Hardware Reliability Engineer

Apex Systems is seeking a Hardware Reliability Engineer to join our client, a leader in innovative consumer electronics, located in Sunnyvale, CA. This is starting as a 6 month contract, with high potential to extend/convert after that duration.


Job Summary

The reliability team aims to develop reliable and robust products that delight our customers. In this role, as a Hardware Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for the reliability engineering of our new and emerging category devices. As a reliability engineer on new category product, you will be developing new reliability specifications and building new and reliable technologies.


Requirements

  • Master's degree in Engineering or related discipline, along with 2+ years of relevant work experience - OR -
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline, along with 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Good understanding of Reliability statistics and Reliability tests
  • Solid understanding of consumer electronics to influence design for reliability.
  • You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.


Responsibilities

  • Define new test specifications, methodology and test coverage to assure product reliability
  • Identify and validate product risks and work with design teams to mitigate them
  • Provide hands-on experimental design and execution
  • Perform reliability prediction of failure mechanisms on products under development and products in the field
  • Engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution, and test.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the following fields: Battery, Displays, Sensors, Motors, and Reliability Engineering Statistics
  • Experience with failure analysis techniques: Electrical debug, Cross sectioning, dye and pry and microscope
