Financial Controller

POSITION SUMMARY/OVERVIEW
The Financial Controller is responsible for ensuring that the company's financial records are accurate and timely, and for guiding decision-making with financial statements and reports. You will also assist in compliance, audits, and monitoring internal controls. The Financial Controller will serve as the hub for intercompany accounting, managing intercompany transactions, and reconciliation of intercompany account activity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and ledger account reconciliations. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Aid in preparation of quarterly forecasts and budgets.
- Develop, monitor, and implement internal controls to reduce the risk of accounting errors, fraud, and irregularities.
- Coordinate with external financial, compliance and tax auditors. Providing external auditors with the necessary documentation and support.
- Ensure compliance with local law, tax provisions and relevant industry and financial regulations.
- Managing and overseeing all intercompany transactions and processes, including preparing, posting, validating, and reconciling all intercompany transactions. Identifying and resolving any discrepancies or issues related to intercompany accounts.
- Coordinating with other departments and subsidiaries to ensure alignment and compliance with group policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
- High Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Knowledge of Belgium GAAP and/or IFRS helpful
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
5+ years of relevant experience within a consumer goods company
SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfort dealing with ambiguity and the ability to work independently
- Thorough understanding of project management.
- Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
- Microsoft D365 F&O knowledge and experience helpful
WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
- Hybrid - Irvington, NY office & remote
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
