JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client is actively seeking candidates for a Quality Engineer opportunity located at the headquarters in the Canton, Ohio area. The ideal candidate must have a passion for working with customers and a good business relationship with the customer's supplier quality team to represent the company. The ideal candidate will work with cross-functional teams to share customer requirements and align them with company quality standards. Incumbent will be responsible for PPAP review, and the approval process with responsible customer to support on-time launch of projects. This candidate must be a systems thinker with excellent analytical abilities, technical skills, hands-on approach, effective written and verbal communication, and most importantly, a passion for making data-based decisions for process improvements. The Quality Engineer will provide direct support to the manufacturing plant and will help strengthen existing systems to promote a zero-defect philosophy between suppliers, company internal departments and support groups. The ideal candidate will work alongside Program Management, Engineering, materials and inside sales and Purchasing cross-functional team members to meet business objectives. The primary responsibilities will include PPAP documentation review, PPAP on-time approval with customers, customer complaint handling, Root-Cause investigation, Corrective Action implementation, Product Audits, and monitoring ISO9001 and IATF1649 compliance at all levels of the organization. There is a manufacturing site in Vietnam, so this position requires working with the cross-functional team members overseas for product and process improvement initiatives.


SPECIALIST FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • AIAG Tools - APQP / PFMEA / Control Plan / PPAP
  • Applied statistics and quality engineering techniques including Measurement Systems Analysis (Gage R&R), descriptive statistics, Design of Experiments (DOE), Process Capability (Cpk/Ppk), Statistical Process Control (SPC)Statistical Analysis
  • Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Continuous Improvement Methodologies – 5Whys, 8D, PDCA, Gemba Walks, 5s
  • Quality Management Experience – ISO 9001, IATF 16949
  • Manufacturing Process Knowhow - Wire Processing (Cutting, Crimping and Assembly), Molding, Welding, Continuity Testing


QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years' experience
  • ISO9001 and / or IATF 16949 Quality Management Systems experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (word/Excel/PowerPoint/Teams).
  • Ability to interface well with others working at all levels.
  • Ability to read and understand CAD drawings
  • Ability to understand various manufacturing processes.
  • Flexible to work off hours with the manufacturing site in Vietnam when needed.
  • Automotive Industry Experience preferred
  • CQE is desirable but not required.
  • Up to 25% travel to the manufacturing site and / or to suppliers.
  • Excellent communication skills
