Electrical Project Manager

As the Electrical Project Manager, you'll be primarily responsible for the construction and commissioning of major electrical infrastructure projects including emergency construction and service restorations. This includes being involved in the areas of pre-planning, budgeting, resource allocation, contract negotiation, and subcontractor coordination. This position may require you to manage one or more projects concurrently.
This position requires knowledge of the National Electric Code, including thorough knowledge of building codes and requirements, and other applicable state and federal guidelines. Also the ensurement of constant compliance with regulatory, safety and company requirements, policies and best practices to meet major electrical facility development and construction needs. Attention to detail, data analysis, the ability to prioritize and execute, problem solve, and have excellent documentation skills, and good interpersonal skills are a must.
Classification (Exempt/Non-Exempt): Exempt (salaried)
- Duties and Responsibilities:Managing electrical projects and ensure projects fall within budget, timeline, and quality requirements.
- Oversee and/or perform various electrical field work, installations, and troubleshooting.
- Negotiate contracts and obtain necessary permits.
- Report to Project Team on all elements of risk associated with scope, schedule, and budget.
- Monitor daily work activities to ensure proper adherence to job site safety policies and procedures
- Maintain the project schedule in an attempt to avoid potential delays, achieve milestones, and meet completion dates.
- Direct the work of employees and /or subcontractors assigned to the project.
- Manage meetings and correspondence with customers.
- Participate with the project team to ensure timely coordination of submittals, requests for information (RFI’s) and plan revisions.
- Participate in value engineering alternative solutions with Owner, Designer and Contractor.
- Monitor and inspect work progress for quality control and quality assurance; identify and resolve problem issues in a timely manner.
- Prepare daily field observation reports and monthly reports along with progress photo documentation
- Participate in weekly progress meetings; review pay applications; review and resolve change order requests; assist with closeout/turnover activities
- Experience and Qualifications:Solid knowledge of State Electric Code.
- Working experience with SoCal Edison and Pacific Gas & Electric is preferable
- Minimum 5 years Project Management or relevant electrical experience (industrial, commercial and/or institutional setting).
- Journeyman Electrician license is a plus
- Knowledge of reading project plans and specifications.
- Manages difficult customer situations, responds promptly to customer needs, solicits customer feedback to improve service, responds to requests for service and assistance, and meets commitments.
- Relevant past experience working on public works, various utility companies, federal and/or military projects preferred.
- OSHA 10 certification; OSHA 30 certification a plus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and other basic computer skills.
- Excellent written/communication skills and ability to work well with others.
- Must pass pre-employment drug test/physical/background check.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
