About the Role

The Quality and Technical Specialist is responsible for the managing our company's test lab as well as our quality assurance and control programs. This person will be responsible for ensuring our testing equipment is up to date and calibrated for proper testing. This person is expected to understand and be up to date on the various testing methods related to our product categories and be able to conduct those testing methods as enabled by our equipment as well as be a61e to interpret lab reports. The QT Specialist is responsible for conducting an evaluation of all new product samples, run competitive analysis of product performance and provide diagnosis of product failures. The QT Specialist is expected to be able to suggest potential product improvement and raise concerns that may affect our overall product quality. This person will communicate directly with factories and China office when necessary to discuss performance, testing and quality issues/topic.


Position is onsite in our Summerville, SC Distribution Center

Role & Responsibilities

This person's responsibilities will fall into 3 major areas: lab management, quality assurance and quality control. This person will ensure the development of sound and high performing products. This person will assist in the improvement of product performance and quality and have direct input into the assessment of new product introductions. This person will validate factory proposals and compliance to regulations, safety and performance standards via in house testing.


Lab Management

• Maintain and operate laboratory equipment.

• Provide updates on technical equipment upgrade/maintenance needs as required.


Quality Assurance

• Collaborate with China Office & Associate Product Manager in ensuring overall QA/QC processes are executed and issues resolved.

• Test new and competitive product samples for standard test requirements and as directed by the product manager.

• Provide clear and consistent results for evaluation to product managers for product viability evaluation.

• Organize and maintain database of all test data/reports and inspection reports.

• Maintain expert knowledge on the latest testing standards and adjust quality plan test methods as required.

• Provide compatibility guides for required products as requested.

• Provide insight on technical aspects of product performance to company as requested.

• Provide specific testing data as requested by the PMs.


Quality Control

• Process all customer returns handing over non-defective inventory to the warehouse for restock and processing defective inventory forms back to Product Manager for approval.


Administration

• Provide monthly RGA request.

• Maintain Non-Defective, Defective testing and RGA logs.

• Maintain QA/QC testing schedule up to date.


Facility

• Assist in facility maintenance as needed.


Description of ideal candidate:


  • You’ve acquired 3+ years of experience in quality inspection in a manufacturing facility, preferably in a regulated environment (e.g. CPG, Product, Lighting).
  • You have an Associate degree in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience, or a true “Macgyver”.
  • You have strong communication skills including written, verbal and listening skills, along with the ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize your workload.
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.
