Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Medical Records professional to perform duties relating to establishing and maintaining all medical records for the day health center with little supervision.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Establishes and maintains medical records for each Participant.
- Filing and requesting medical records from outside sources.
- Assists with coordinating transportation arrangements for scheduled appointments.
- Utilizes word processing skills to prepare correspondence and reports from rough drafts and verbal instruction.
- Maintains and enters all data on participants for program reporting and evaluation.
- Attends required meetings.
- Provides clerical support for Center staff.
- Participate in and support Quality Improvement initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Medical records transcription skills, word processing, and data entry.
- Relates well with people of all ages but has a deep sensitivity and commitment to the elderly.
- Ability to organize work and follow through on assigned tasks.
- Ability to address/manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to prioritize workload
- Ability to manage time to accomplish required tasks
- Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
- CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical records, medical terminology, medical transcription, word processing, and data entry experience preferred.
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
Education and Experience:
- Completion of High School or equivalent.
- Medical record or coding education
- Three to Five Years of experience in medical records management, or coding
- One year of experience working with the frail and elderly population or willing to participate in extensive training as needed.
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
