Job Description: Our client is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join their Engineering Productivity team. You will be responsible for building durable, sustainable, and scalable infrastructure systems, CI/CD pipelines, and developer tools, while continually looking for opportunities to increase automation and efficiency. In this role, you will work closely with members of the Engineering team to define requirements and support the build, test, and deployment of software into production.


Responsibilities:

  • Guide, support, and mentor junior developers on proper software development procedures and methods.
  • Support our engineering team by improving efficiency through automation and tooling.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and implement infrastructure solutions.
  • Manage and maintain development, testing, and production environments.
  • Automate deployment processes and implement continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for infrastructure and deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with other technical leads and stakeholders to develop project plans and participate in resource planning.
  • Complete any additional tasks as they arise.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience and/or certification.
  • 7+ years of relevant working experience.
  • Strong experience with Python.
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, particularly with Jenkins.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Comfortable working with AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, SNS, SQS, RDS (Postgres), and DynamoDB.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies, specifically Docker.
  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies, specifically SCRUM.
  • Ability to work independently and learn and adapt quickly.


Nice to Have:

  • Experience with other CI/CD systems: Bitrise, AWS CodeBuild, GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with other programming languages: Java, Groovy, C++, with the desire to learn more.
  • Experience with DataDog.
  • Experience with SonarQube / SonarCloud.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
