Trillium Professional is partnering with a rapidly growing company in Irvine, CA, seeking a talented Financial Controller. This is a full-time opportunity ideal for someone with experience in the food industry or commodities, who is comfortable managing finance and accounting operations in a dynamic environment.

Role Overview: As the Financial Controller, you will oversee all financial and accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the food sector, with a hands-on approach suitable for a smaller or startup environment. You will play a critical role in scaling the accounting department to meet the needs of an expanding company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and variance reports.
  • Generate and publish monthly financial statements in a timely manner.
  • Manage financial risk and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee accounting operations including Billing, Accounts Receivable (A/R), Accounts Payable (A/P), General Ledger (GL), Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
  • Coordinate regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with accounting regulations.
  • Address technical accounting issues to maintain compliance.
  • Support the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
  • Develop and enforce corporate accounting policies in line with GAAP, and stay updated on accounting regulations.
  • Handle local, multi-state, and federal government reporting and tax filings.
  • Manage, motivate, and develop the accounting team.

Qualifications:

  • Active CPA license required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of combined accounting and finance experience.
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller.
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting standards, and internal controls.
  • Strong understanding of tax reporting, including multi-state and shareholder requirements.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end closing process.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems; knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 is highly desirable.
  • Excellent technology, analytical, and management skills.
  • Position requires in-person presence Monday through Friday in Irvine, CA.
