Job Summary:

The Engineering Technician will work under the guidance of a supervisor (NPD Engineer/Scientist or Senior/Lead Technician) to construct new concept prototypes, modify existing products, build new package configurations, and design basic test fixtures. The role involves performing performance and safety tests on products, maintaining laboratory equipment, and contributing to the overall efficiency and innovation of the laboratory environment.

Job Qualifications:

  • Experience with hand tools and common power tools (drill press, band saw, grinder, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge of materials such as wood, metal, textiles, adhesives, and composites.
  • Ability to perform basic chemistry lab functions (e.g., measuring, mixing, pH testing).
  • Proficiency in entering data, performing basic statistical calculations, and creating simple graphs/charts.
  • Familiarity with the use of electrical equipment and associated safety risks.
  • Experience with sewing machine setup and operation is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols.

Job Requirements:

  • Construct and modify prototypes and products under supervisor guidance.
  • Perform and document safety and performance tests on products.
  • Conduct basic lab functions including measuring and mixing ingredients.
  • Enter data, perform calculations, and create visual data representations.
  • Participate in initial pilot/production runs including assembly, inspection, and reporting.
  • Maintain and perform preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with hands-on repairs and coordinate larger scale maintenance tasks.
  • Contribute ideas to improve laboratory layout and processes.
