Our client, a leading wholesale distributor and eCommerce retailer of consumer product goods, is poised for continued growth with an impressive $100M in annual revenue. With a dynamic product assortment of over 4,000 SKUs, they are seeking a visionary VP of Merchandising to join their team and drive their product strategy forward.


Position Summary:

The Vice President of Merchandising, a member of the leadership team, will be responsible for curating an innovative product portfolio that aligns with evolving customer demands and market trends. This executive role demands a strategic leader with a keen eye for data analytics, trend analysis, and a strong background in consumer product goods (CPG). The ideal candidate will lead the design and product development teams, ensuring success across both B2B and B2C channels.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Curation: Curate and expand the product assortment, keeping a pulse on customer demands and buying trends to ensure a competitive and appealing product lineup.
  • Trend Analysis: Utilize data analytics to monitor and predict market trends, ensuring our product offerings remain relevant and in demand.
  • Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire design and product development teams to drive innovation and excellence.
  • Channel Management: Develop and execute strategies that drive success in both B2B and B2C channels, optimizing product performance across different platforms.
  • Market Research: Conduct competitive market analysis to identify opportunities for growth and differentiation in the market.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term merchandising strategies that align with company goals and revenue targets.
  • AI Integration: Leverage artificial intelligence to enhance product analytics and trend forecasting capabilities.
  • Process Improvement: Implement data-driven processes to improve merchandising efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic Planning: Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to develop and execute comprehensive merchandising strategies.
  • Market Analysis: Expertise in market analysis and trend awareness to guide product curation and development.
  • AI Experience: Experience leveraging AI tools for product analytics and trend forecasting.
  • Product Analytics: Strong analytical skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Creative Mindset: Innovative thinker with a creative approach to product curation and merchandising.
  • Process Driven: Ability to develop and implement efficient processes to streamline operations.
  • Flexibility and Agility: Adaptable and responsive to changing market conditions and business needs.
  • People Leadership: Exceptional people management skills with a focus on team development and performance.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in merchandising leadership for businesses catering to both brick-and-mortar retailers and eCommerce channels.
  • Executive Presence: Strong executive presence with excellent communication and presentation skills.
