Financial Assistant II


Looking to gather more experience on the financial side of higher education? We’ve partnered with a university in the Cambridge, MA area, looking for someone to join their growing team as a Financial Assistant II.

This position is a 3-month temporary opening with potential for an extension/ permanency.


The right candidate for this opening must have 3 years of financial/accounting experience, ideally in an academic setting. Must be able to do pivot table, macros, and navigate through an Excel spreadsheet comfortably- Advanced Excel Skills required. Must be able to do expense reports, process invoices, handle reimbursements, and track payments/ receipts. Must have strong attention to detail, be a team player and have strong communications skill to report to higher level financial members and faculty.


  • Pay: $23-25/hr. (temp) and $26-28/hr. (permanent)
  • Days/Hours: M-F, 9:00-5:00pm- 40/hrs/wk
  • This will require this person to work 5-days a week on-site
  • No covid vaccination require, but highly recommended
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check


Job Details:

  • Processes accounts payable activity including approving invoices and RFPs. Interacting with vendors, lab members and answer questions and resolve issues
  • Conduct financial review and control activities for research and faculty fund accounts. Execute in-depth research for complex transactions
  • Run and review monthly reports
  • Approve and process B2P procurement requisitions, journal vouchers, and verify credit card purchases
  • Monitor activity in cost objects, close outstanding purchase orders, and issue new blanket B2P P.O.s each fiscal year
  • Approves department B2P procurement transactions
