JOB DESCRIPTION – Lab Technician


Location: Greater Houston, TX area


Position Summary:


The Lab Technician is responsible for analysis of raw material, in-process, and finished products.


Essential Functions:

  • Perform chemical analysis and basic lab tests on in-process, finished and finished goods
  • Perform a variety of quality inspections on all packaging lines and products
  • Testing can include wet chemistry, pH, volumetric titrations, freeze point analysis, water analysis, RA, specific gravity, Karl Fischer, cold crank, viscometer, etc
  • Performing incoming inspections on pallets and drums
  • Check paperwork on incoming chemical shipments to ensure it meets specifications
  • Receive raw materials and complete the necessary paperwork to ensure compliance
  • Ensure all monitoring and measuring devices in the lab are calibrated according to schedule and all supporting documentation is maintained and readily available
  • Complete all test reports per customer specification and provide customer lab with representative samples for analysis and approval. Must ensure all supporting documentation is completed, maintained, and readily available
  • Maintain product/batch retain samples and inventory
  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of lab
  • Implement corrective and preventative actions when necessary in order to improve and/or enhance the quality of products and services provided
  • Maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science field preferred


Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic Math and Computer
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Understanding of basic lab safety



Type of Assignment:

  • Temp - hire


Shift Schedule:

  • 1st and 2nd shift may be available
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed


Salary:

  • $20/hr+ Depending on experience, education
