Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Plant Controller to oversee the accounting operations of a $30M plant located in the greater Charlotte area. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and operational efficiency of the manufacturing facility to enhance profitability, efficiency and fast pace environment. The Plant Controller will be responsible for managing all financial aspects of the plant's operations, providing strategic insights, and driving financial performance improvements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting, costing, profitability & financial analysis, and manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting activities associated with month-end and year-end close processes, encompassing tasks such as preparing, approving, and posting journal entries, as well as conducting financial statement preparation and analysis using ERP, Accounting system, excel, power query and power BI.
  • Lead the supervision of day-to-day operations carried out by the Accounts Payable Coordinator and Accountant. Provide expert guidance on technical and procedural inquiries, ensuring alignment with established policies and procedures. This includes setting and monitoring annual goals and objectives for direct reports. Improve procure to pay process.
  • Monitor the aging reports for Accounts Payable (AP) collaborating with processors to address overdue items and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage and coordinate external audit activities linked to the year-end audit process.
  • Assume responsibility for overseeing fixed asset sub-ledger and general ledger operations of the plant.
  • Create and maintain schedules related to lease accounting, while also preparing relevant journal entries.
  • Utilize expertise in handling manufacturing, bill of materials, engineering changes, standard costing, and margin analysis.
  • Supervise inventory transactions, carrying out monthly journal entries, and conducting reviews to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Perform comprehensive calculations for high-level reserves, including Lower of Cost or Market (LCM) and Slow Moving/Obsolete Material.
  • Analyze actual financial results against planned and forecasted figures, identifying trends and making recommendations to management based on the analysis.
  • Assist the Regional Finance in responding to various information requests from government entities, auditors, and other external parties.
  • Uphold compliance with established internal controls to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Evaluate current accounting procedures, providing suggestions for enhancements, and executing new processes where appropriate.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Regional Finance and Managing Director of the plant, which may encompass projects and tasks beyond those listed above.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 7+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years supervisory skills preferred
  • Advanced level Excel skills required (i.e. Vlookup; IF statements, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of product costing accounting
