Our Challenge:

As a Database Specialist, you will collaborate with stakeholders across the business to work on complex technical requirements. You will be responsible for managing multiple engagements, prioritize and resolve complex problems and escalate as necessary, in a fast-paced environment.


The Role

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the migration of databases from Oracle to MS SQL Server, ensuring data integrity, performance, and scalability in the new environment.
  2. Analyze and assess existing Oracle PL/SQL code, queries, and stored procedures to determine optimal migration strategies and execution plans.
  3. Develop and optimize T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, and queries to replicate existing Oracle database functionality in the MS SQL Server environment.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including database administrators, developers, and business stakeholders, to ensure a cohesive migration process and minimal disruption to operations.
  5. Perform data validation and testing to ensure accuracy and consistency of migrated data in the new SQL Server environment.
  6. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members involved in the migration process.


Requirements:

You are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in database migration projects from Oracle to MS SQL Server, with a strong understanding of both Oracle PL/SQL and MS SQL Server T-SQL.
  • Extensive proficiency in analyzing, optimizing, and rewriting PL/SQL code, queries, and stored procedures for migration to SQL Server.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of database design, data modeling, and performance tuning in both Oracle and SQL Server environments.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders throughout the migration process.


It would be great if you also had:

  • Experience with data migration tools and utilities for Oracle to SQL Server migrations.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based database migration strategies and best practices, particularly in AWS or Azure environments.
