Position Summary:
The Service Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the functionality and reliability of electronic devices. This position involves testing and repairing a wide range of electronic components, including printed circuit boards and assemblies, as well as inspecting specific electronic devices upon receipt.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct preliminary and final testing of all production electronic devices, handling both customer and in-house repairs.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot testing problems, working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to resolve issues.
- Calibrate electronic equipment and products, and perform simple repairs on test equipment as needed.
- Read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals to accurately diagnose issues.
- Inspect specific electronic devices (such as impedance converters and chips) upon receipt.
- Perform precise soldering of electronic components and connections, with training provided for those eager to learn.
- Manage bench stock and supplies for electronic testing, and build custom cables as needed.
- Prepare discrepancy reports for the disposition of electronic devices.
- Recommend improvements in test fixtures, procedures, product definitions, and new test equipment.
- Create detailed diagnosis and repair reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate in Applied Science or equivalent two-year diploma from a recognized community or junior college, plus three years of experience in testing electronic devices, or equivalent training and experience.
- Experience in testing and troubleshooting electronic devices, with an understanding of analog and digital circuits and components.
- Proficient in using various test equipment such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, etc.
- Experience assembling small components.
- Mechanical knowledge – proficiency in using hand tools.
- Strong willingness to learn – soldering training will be provided.
- Ability to sit at a desk for 90% of the workday and use a computer for 70% of the workday.
- Physical requirements: ability to use department equipment throughout the workday, sit at a workbench for extended periods, have 20/20 corrected vision, and lift up to 50 pounds.
