Job Title: Instrumentation & Controls Engineer/Integrator
Location: Fort Washington, Pennsylvania
Job Overview: We are seeking a candidate that can provide hands-on Instrumentation and Control Integration. The successful candidate will partner with Engineering, Facilities, Automation, Operations, Metrology for the design, review, and implementation of each project workstream.
Starting with the scope of work defined within the URS, will assist in the development and theory of operation for (FDS SDS) along with the control requirements for the project. The I&C Engineer/Integrator will recommend and is instrumental in specifying for purchase applicable automation devices, controls, drives, equipment, and accessories, etc.
Using the scope of work, the I&C Engineer/Integrator formulates a detailed system description and generates proposal(s) for each application. Once design is approved work with engineering team to generate schematics and specify unique Control System specifications. Then in conjunction with the Automation Team, software developers (vendors), OEM vendors program the specified drives, PLC’s, HMI’s or Industrial PC’s as needed to meet application requirements.
The I&C Engineer/Integrator should be able to perform point-to-point verification and a final test with power to confirm that proper connections are made, and all industrial control systems are functioning according to specifications.
Once the new system is installed, individual will work with manufacturing team to ensure a smooth, safe, and effective start-up and operation. Provide ongoing support, monitoring and troubleshooting of the production line; Coordinate with Facility metrology technicians in making any final calibrations if necessary; Provide salient documentation, redlines and records to project depository.
Key Responsibilities:
- Integrate control systems for line expansion projects, including machine installation and setup.
- Manage subcontracting costs and ensure project budgets are met.
- Run wiring, set up communication systems, and configure PLCs.
- Develop and implement control strategies to optimize plant performance.
- Collaborate with various departments, including engineering, IT, and operations, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for control systems and instrumentation.
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of hands-on I&C integration experience
- Proven experience with PLCs, specifically Siemens and Allen Bradley.
- Proficiency in working with HMI screens.
- Strong understanding of control systems integration and instrumentation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, consumer products, or similar industries.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for control systems and instrumentation.
