SUMMARY:

The Product Engineer is a key, highly visible position within the organization. This individual is responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously through the product development process. This individual will design, plan, and develop products and processes by coordinating activities between all functional areas from concept or customer specification through product launch. This individual will also provide technical product support for our customers and internal manufacturing operations. This person will have strong interpersonal skills, a positive, can-do attitude, and the experience working with customers and suppliers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  •  Evaluate product applications of customers’ requests to determine the feasibility of product design concepts. In addition, works closely with the Sales team on new product opportunities.


  • Establish product designs and drawings that achieve requirements, utilizing design calculations and tools, 3D models, and proven practices.


  • Establish product cost models to support customer quotations. Cost models will include bill of materials and engineering master's that capture labor, material, and any related NRE or tooling costs.


  • Project Management and Planning – Identify major milestones, identifies resources, and manages timelines for multiple projects simultaneously. Coordinates efforts between all functional areas to meet project goals. Work closely with Operations to schedule production resources that that will be used for product development. Leads efforts to mitigate product and project risks.


  • Coordinate fabrication, assembly, and testing activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications. Works closely with Operations and Quality.


  • Validate design and project goals through project reviews.


  • Develop and coordinate plans; communicate changes and progress; completes projects on time and according to budget; manage project team activities.


  • Technical support of customers’ inquiries and operational issues.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) or higher in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering disciplines with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. 


  • Must have strong product design and project management capabilities. Prefer relevant manufacturing experience.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  •  Must be able to sit at computer for an extended period of time.
  • Must be able to move throughout the shop floor.


PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:


  • While on the shop floor, you must wear safety glasses.
