About the role:

Medical Mutual Liability Insurance Society of Maryland is the leading provider of medical professional liability insurance for Maryland Physicians. We are seeking an entry-level Underwriting Processor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated with strong personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to overall mission of the Company.


Essential Functions:

The Underwriting Processor supports the Underwriting department by amending policies and contract and performs the following tasks:

  • Processing new business and policy maintenance as directed.
  • Reviews policy maintenance forms and make corrections as needed
  • Process certified mailings
  • Maintain the producer of record process.
  • Print, review, and mail forms related to new business, renewal policies and policy maintenance.
  • Test, prepare and mail the bi-yearly reapplication mailings.
  • Maintain facility contact information by speaking with credentialing representatives
  • Respond to phone calls and emails, from policyholders and producers.
  • Communicate/interact with other departments as required. (e.g. Accounting, Marketing, Risk Management, etc.)
  • Provides internal systems testing for rate and program changes as directed.
  • Knowledge of underwriting procedures


Other Responsibilities

  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Back-up for administrative and receptionist duties.


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements/Attributes:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Ability to work accurately under time constraints and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.


This is a full-time position based out of our Hunt Valley, Maryland office. We offer a hybrid remote/in-person work schedule. Medical Mutual’s hours of operation are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
