DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW

  • Primary function is to guide and supervise the departments and employees that report to this position.
  • To direct, answer questions and co-ordinate between departments.
  • To resolve problems that may occur throughout the manufacturing process.
  • To interface with: Sales, Engineering, order entry and senior management.


THE FOLLOWING DEPARTMENTS REPORT TO THE DIR. OF OPERATIONS

  • Purchasing/Planning
  • Quality Control
  • Manufacturing (Molding , Assembly and all Subcontractors))
  • Plant Maintenance
  • Tool room/ mold prep/ mold maintenance
  • Shipping/Receiving – Warehouse


PURCHASING / PLANNING

  • Review all open orders, new orders and new programs
  • Monitor scheduling with the purchasing/planning mgr. and the plant mgr.
  • Monitor scheduling with all subcontractors domestic and international
  • Monitor purchasing issues for raw materials and services
  • Monitor delivery schedules and dates
  • Review pricing issues
  • Interface with sales, sales service and production planning on delivery dates, requested delivery dates, timelines and open order status
  • Review and sign-off on all raw material and sub-contractor invoices


QUALITY CONTROL

  • Review all quality issues with the Q.C. manager
  • Review and make disposition on all rejects identified by the Q.C. dept.
  • Work with the Q.C. and manufacturing departments to monitor off-pack and scrap
  • Work with the Q.C. department to develop range boards and limits
  • Interface with engineering, sales and senior management on Q.C. issues


MANUFACTURING -(MOLDING AND ASSEMBLY)

  • daily review of production schedule and plant issues with the plant manager and assembly manager
  • Review daily production reports with the plant manager
  • Monitor and adjust number of hourly employees required with the plant manager, planning manager and Human Resources department.
  • Review and advise on plant maintenance and repair issues
  • Aid in resolving plant and manufacturing problems as they arise
  • Hold weekly production meeting with manufacturing, purchasing/planning, engineering and quality control


SHIPPING / WAREHOUSE / INVENTORY

  • Monitor and advise on shipping arrangements as required
  • Co-ordinate full plant physical inventories as required by the accounting department
  • Participate in the counting of the physical inventory
  • Monitor available warehouse space at LDM and off-site
  • Work on eliminating excess/obsolete inventory


CUSTOMER AUDITS

  • Prepare for and co-ordinate with customers and third party auditing firms for all Social Compliance and GMP/QC plant audits.
  • Accompany and work with auditors during audit process.
  • Prepare, submit and follow up on all Corrective Action Responses
  • Work with Quality Manager developing LDM Quality Manual, procedures and work instructions
