Design Automation Engineer

About the Role:
An experienced Design Automation Engineer II is currently sought. This role involves designing, analyzing, and validating components and systems. The position includes the development of high-level product requirements with a focus on product specification, design for configurability, and system automation.
Responsibilities:
- Implement engineering and manufacturing changes to automate SolidWorks solid models via Confgit Engineering platform to provide data for downstream teams and systems.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and data sheets.
- Work under general supervision, relying on limited instructions and pre-established guidelines.
- Use basic programming to configure systems based on engineering documentation.
- Test and debug automation content outputs from the design automation application.
- Maintain/develop department-owned templates, calculation sheets, and reference documents.
- Support and implement enhancements to the design automation application and supporting interfaces.
- Assist in developing design validation models and configurations for new product development projects.
- Support engineering and Customer Service Center in writing configuration rules related to design automation.
- Work in a team environment with engineers, configurators, and representatives from sales and IT.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and company safety standards.
- Adhere to the corporate compliance policy and ensure that behavior in the workplace is that of a responsible professional.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of design and drafting experience in an architectural, structural, or mechanical design environment.
- Intermediate understanding of bills of material, manufacturing, and product structures.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong decision-making abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend technical documents.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Experience with SolidWorks required.
- Experience using PLM/PDM software such as Windchill, SolidWorks PDM, ENOVIA, etc.
- Understanding and ability to author basic programming logic and syntax (Visual BASIC or JavaScript preferred).
- Demonstrated experience of working in a team environment.
- Ability to work with limited instruction from a manager to meet project deadlines.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering field, or 5+ years of equivalent SolidWorks or design experience.
