Cambridge Health Alliance provides 24-hour emergency care at our Cambridge and Everett Hospitals. We are one of the busiest emergency services in Massachusetts with approximately 100,000 combined annual visits, and we have been recognized nationally as one of the most efficient emergency services in the nation. Highlights include a state-of-the-art patient triage and tracking system, a streamlined admission process that helps us get the sickest patients to a hospital bed sooner, rapid assessment protocol to help prioritize our work, a BIDMC tele-stroke program, and an integrated Psychiatric Emergency Services at Cambridge Hospital.


The Business Manager of the Emergency Department works under the Chief of Emergency Medicine and Associate Chief Nursing Officer to achieve the department’s strategic, financial, clinical, academic and operational goals. The Business Manager is responsible for promoting and ensuring provider engagement and satisfaction through sound operational, technical, financial and human resource management. The Business Manager works in concert with Nurse Managers to ensure compliance with relevant accreditation and regulatory requirements and pursues the quality goals of the Department of Emergency Medicine by encouraging innovative problem solving solutions and leading improvement initiatives.


Education/Training:

Bachelor's degree required. Equivalent, relevant experience may be substituted for a degree. Master's degree preferred.


Work Experience:

A minimum of two years management experience working in a health care setting interacting with a diverse workforce and patient population. Project management/analysis experience. Demonstrated financial management experience/willingness and ability to learn (revenue cycle, expense management, budgeting, financial modeling).
