We are currently seeking a Residential Project Architect who can direct projects from early-stage conceptual design through construction. You will collaborate with experienced designers and project managers and work with some amazing clients. Your 5+ years of experience will be essential in crafting amazing spaces and pushing the boundaries of modern residential design. Interested? We should talk.

Responsibilities:

As a Residential Project Architect, you will play a crucial role in collaborating with clients and actively listening to their overall needs and generating solution-oriented designs. Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Lead the design and documentation of residential projects, including renovations and single-family homes.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand project objectives, requirements, and design preferences.
  • Collaborate closely with internal interior design staff.
  • Produce conceptual sketches, detailed drawings, and 3D modeling. 
  • Coordinate with external consultants to integrate structural, mechanical, and electrical systems into the design. Cross evaluate to identify any conflicts between MEP and building plans.
  • Conduct site visits, surveys, and assessments to inform design decisions and address technical challenges. This often in collaboration with Designers and Project Managers.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications in compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Prepare comprehensive Construction Documents, including complete specification details for product materials and finishes, in coordination with Design Team.
  • Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and construction administration to ensure project quality and client satisfaction.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Architecture.
  • Licensed Architect in Virginia, Maryland, or Washington DC, or actively pursuing licensure.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in architecture, with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects of varying scales and complexities.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD and/or other relevant design software. Strong preference for Vectorworks experience. 
  • Strong understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, and construction practices in the region.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Solution oriented creative problem solver – able to identify opportunities, vet options, gain team and client consensus, and bring items to closure.
  • Great client services skills - active listener to understand client needs and preferences to deliver results.
  • Strong design sense…practical solutions that are interesting, beautiful, and functional.
  • Ability to think “outside the box” but also have an attention to detail.
  • Project management skills; able to plan and organize work independently.
  • Product selection experience – ability to research and recommend products to meet unique project design solutions in coordination with construction applications.
  • Schedule driven – able to complete tasks with structured milestones in production environment.
  • Strong teamwork skills; positive attitude and high energy.
