The ideal Executive Director candidate will use a strategic mindset to drive the future success of Tri-Cities Puentes Initiative by aligning multiple cultures under a single vision. The executive director needs to be a passionate community bridge builder who inspires change and action, while building long-term sustainability for TCPI programming.


With responsibility for all program areas, this candidate needs to be highly organized, but also a big-picture, systemic thinker, with the ability to make great things happen, and also possess the judgement to effectively balance those efforts.


The candidate will be required to execute on all areas of need for the organization including management in the following areas: fiscal, operational, program development, community relations, and board relations. 

 

The ideal candidate is an experienced and proven leader who inspires excellence, understands best

practices for non-profit organizations, and possesses the knowledge to implement.

Goal Oriented – Candidate must thrive on set metrics and expectations, be a self-starter who regularly sets

and achieves activity and results-driven goals. Candidate's drive must motivate discovery for better methods and strategies to ensure each goal is met.


Great Communicator – Ability to call donors and seek to develop meaningful relationships. Face-

to-face meetings are the preferred method of donor cultivation. Messages are clear and concise. The executive director needs to be a great storyteller and can easily share their passion for TCPI's work with any audience.


Organized & Detail Oriented – Attention to detail and staying organized is vital. Candidate will be always in tune with duties and responsibilities, and have an ability to organize workflow, documents and processes to ensure timely and accurate execution of the work.


Multi-Tasker – Whether leading marketing strategies, planning events or managing donor stewardship

plans, the executive director is able to juggle several tasks at once, thriving during busy season



RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for TCPI's future staff, programs, and execution of its mission.


Leadership and Strategy

  • Design, develop, and implement a strategic plan.
  • Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence and consistent quality of finance and administration; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.
  • Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors; seek and build board involvement with strategic direction.
  • Actively engage and energize volunteers, board members, committees, alumni, partnering organizations, and funders.
  • Ensure effective systems to regularly evaluate program components and to identify outcomes that can be communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents.


Financial Stewardship

  • Understand how to generate and analyze key financial documents.
  • Work with the Board of Directors and other stakeholders to create an annual budget.
  • Identify, acquire and cultivate a diversified donor base to strategically grow annual support.


Communication and Awareness

  • Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand.
  • Develop community connections and use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required/ Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three to five years of nonprofit organization experience is highly preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) and bi-cultural candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.


Skills and Experience

  • Proven track record of success in a leadership position, developing a clear vision for a program or organization in conjunction with stakeholders and then proven ability to implement that vision.
  • A proven record of developing and maintaining collaborations and partnerships.
  • A documented history of strong, passionate engagement and involvement with multicultural and multilingual efforts.
  • Is able to recognize and advocate for strengths in individuals and communities.
  • Experienced in authentic engagement with community voices to lead and direct organizational strategy.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the field of board support.
  • Demonstrates professional knowledge of the characteristics and needs of diverse populations and underserved community groups.
  • Demonstrated a positive history of leading teams to achieve excellence and efficiency with strength, compassion, and kindness.
  • Experience developing organizational or program messaging and marketing campaigns.
  • Experienced in developing and overseeing budgets and ensuring the financial well-being of a program or organization.
  • Requires proficient computer, database, technology and social media skills.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor.
  • Work well in a team environment and be able to accept input as well as supervisory guidance.
