Our client is a leading financial services firm in Chicago, IL, and is seeking a dedicated Senior Benefits Specialist to join their team.


The Benefits Specialist will manage and administer employee benefits programs, ensure compliance with regulations, and deliver outstanding service to employees. This role is ideal for a professional with expertise in benefits administration and a passion for helping employees maximize their benefits.


Key Responsibilities

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives, ensuring timely and accurate processing of enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Collaborate with benefits providers, brokers, and consultants to evaluate, select, and manage benefits plans that align with company goals and employee needs.
  • Maintain accurate benefits records in compliance with regulatory requirements, ensuring timely preparation of reports such as ACA filings and 401(k) compliance testing.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee benefits inquiries, providing guidance on options, plan details, and eligibility criteria.
  • Monitor vendor performance and negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and service agreements.
  • Develop and deliver training and communication materials to educate employees about benefits offerings and changes.
  • Lead and coordinate the annual open enrollment process, including planning, communication, and system updates.
  • Stay informed on federal, state, and local regulations to ensure benefits program compliance.
  • Assist in maintaining HRIS systems and ensure data accuracy for employee records related to payroll, benefits, and compliance.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring seamless enrollment and termination of benefits.
  • Contribute to employee engagement initiatives by integrating benefits information into broader HR programs and communication strategies.
  • Participate in audits of HR records and systems to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in benefits administration, preferably within a finance firm or similar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration software.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on delivering outstanding service.
