Overview

Our client, a leading provider of technologically advanced aerospace defense systems, is seeking a hands-on Project Manager to assist with projects within the Program Manager’s portfolio. The ideal candidate has a solid background in the manufacturing industry and experience in establishing full-rate production lines. They are a proactive individual who is adept at taking control of programs, organizing Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and collaborating with customers to transition Technical Data Packages (TDPs) into manufacturing. This role demands strong leadership, strategic thinking, and exceptional customer interfacing skills to translate customer needs into actionable plans and production processes.


Responsibilities


  • Lead and manage one or two projects within the Program Manager’s portfolio, ensuring timely completion within scope and budget.
  • Take control of assigned programs, aligning all aspects with company objectives and customer requirements.
  • Assemble and coordinate cross-functional IPTs to drive project success, ensuring collaboration across various departments.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, understanding their needs, providing updates, and addressing concerns.
  • Work closely with customers to transition Technical Data Packages (TDPs) into manufacturing.
  • Oversee the setup and optimization of full-rate production lines, ensuring efficient and effective manufacturing processes that meet quality standards.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to guide project execution, including risk management plans, resource allocation, and milestone tracking.
  • Provide strong leadership to project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Mentor and support team members to achieve project goals.
  • Monitor project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Track progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Prepare and present regular project status reports to stakeholders, including project metrics, timelines, risks, and achievements.
  • Ensure all project documentation is complete and up-to-date.
  • Ensure all project deliverables meet the highest quality standards and comply with industry regulations and customer specifications.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification required.
  • Solid background in manufacturing, with a proven track record of managing production processes and optimizing full-rate production lines.
  • 2-5 years of experience in project management, including leading complex projects, managing budgets, and delivering projects on time and within scope.
  • Experience organizing and leading cross-functional Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to drive project success and ensure collaboration across various departments.
  • Proven ability to interface with customers, understanding their requirements, providing updates, and addressing concerns effectively.
  • Experience working with Technical Data Packages (TDPs) and transitioning them into manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Deep understanding of cost structures, price monitoring, financial analysis, and budget management, with the ability to drive cost-effective solutions and maximize program profitability.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams towards common goals.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively interface with customers, senior management, and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, solve complex problems, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software, such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar applications.
  • Experience working with government contracts and familiarity with DOD acquisition processes and regulations is highly desirable.
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
