Description of Position: Utilizing analytic platforms and software to perform data analytics to address J6C, Cyberspace Assurance Division, mission needs while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.


Position Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conceiving and defining solutions to complex problems, analyzing and interpreting findings of projects, and guiding technical and programmatic work of team members.
  • Conduct data mining & retrieval and apply statistical/mathematical analysis of data to identify trends and solve problems.
  • Plan and conduct statistical data analytic projects and/or studies and present the findings of the projects/studies to leadership personnel.
  • Applies and researches analytic methodologies in order to develop initial prototype analytics potentially leveraging artificial intelligence and/or machine learning that meet mission requirements in a minimum viable product format.
  • Plans, executes, controls, and completes assigned projects by setting and briefing project milestones and goals. Additionally, performs in-depth analysis and research to evaluate reports & provides detailed responses to leadership personnel for an informed decision to be made based on recommendations.
  • Represents United States Space Command J6C, Cyberspace Assurance Division, to all entities within Space Command and the Department of Defense articulating Division priorities to stakeholders, negotiating & resolving applicable issues, and reporting on progress to leadership personnel.


Key Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of data science techniques, methods, and ability to conceptualize solutions to resolve problems and propose solutions to government personnel.
  • Knowledge of DoD or private sector C4 systems, big data analytics, machine learning, AI, resource and information processes, and analytical capabilities.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principals, data security, risk management processes, and secure software development & acquisition.
  • Skill in leading teams composed of industry, government and/or academic experts. Additionally, skill in originating new ideas, projects, methodologies, and executing projects within established financial or time constraints.
  • Ability to effectively communication, both orally and in writing; and ability to present information clearly, with tact and technical accuracy.


Qualification Requirements:

  • Experience at the next lower broadband/grade level (or equivalent) in performing job achievement and/or innovation, communication and/or teamwork, and mission support including knowledge of DoD and industry policies, principles, concepts, guidance, procedures, techniques, and methodologies pertaining to data management, IT planning and resources, full-spectrum cyber capabilities, cyberspace operations, and cyber risk management. Utilizing analytical platforms and software to perform data analytics to address business and mission priorities. Recommending and developing proposals to test data science hypotheses, prioritizing research, and establishment of project goals.
  • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in either data science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Incumbent is required to have minimum certification and education required to meet standards outlined in DoD 8140.03, Cyberspace Workforce Qualification and Management Program for the applicable cyber codes: 422 – Data Analyst, 622 – Secure Software Developer, and 661 – Research and Development Specialist. Failure to comply will result in removal from this position.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
  • Must be able to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise
  • Position requires drug testing
  • Occasional travel away from the regular duty location may be required.
  • May be required to work irregular duty hours including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
