Our Tax Services team is primarily responsible for providing tax advice, tax planning, and tax return preparation to our incredible clients. This service is a core component of our Personal Office approach and experience. This position is responsible for technical review of tax returns, managing a growing client list and providing tax advice services to clients and advisors.


Can be located in Minneapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee, or Appleton, WI.


Essential Functions

  • Deep understanding of Individual and Business taxation with a strong focus on high-net-worth individuals
  • Strong technical skills and a detailed approach to the tax return review process
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding to a client’s situation and have a wholistic understanding of a client's financial situation
  • Work effectively across company teams to ensure tax strategies are aligned with the client’s financial objectives
  • Manages multiple client relationships
  • Handles federal, state and local tax audits
  • Prepares research memoranda, written correspondence/guidance, and other documents for submission to the IRS or other taxing authorities
  • Train and supervises staff, reviews and evaluate their work


Required Education & Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university: Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, or Investments/Actuarial/Mathematics
  • CPA license
  • 7+ years of experience in public accounting and tax
  • Tax audit experience
  • Experience working in RIA space or directly with financial advisors
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills.
  • Research proficiency.
  • Strong computer skills: proficiency preferred in CCH Axcess, BNA Income Planner and MS Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented with ability to multi-task.
  • Well rounded in dealing with high net worth individuals and businesses.
  • Entity Tax Consultation, a plus.
  • Record of success in improving processes and leading department growth
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, handle and prioritize simultaneous requests, and manage lateral and upwards
  • Emotional maturity and professional mindset
  • Strong presentation skills including the ability to make concise arguments with conviction
