Position: Facilities Engineer

Overview: The Facilities Engineer provides essential support to the manufacturing operations area, ensuring seamless equipment functionality, process efficiency, and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment and System Support:
  • Troubleshoot equipment and system issues to address deviations, corrective actions, and quality concerns.
  • Collaborate with quality, process research and development, and manufacturing teams to track and evaluate process trends and issues.
  • Procurement and Installation:
  • Assist in the procurement, installation, engineering start-up, and validation of systems and equipment.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Participate in implementing procedural improvements.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure adherence to safety requirements for personnel and equipment, including training on LOTO, Arc Flash, etc.
  • Implement policies and procedures to comply with legal requirements and company guidelines in Quality, Human Relations, Health & Safety, and Environmental areas.
  • Building Systems Expertise:
  • Maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of building systems operations, maintenance, and repair.
  • Design, install, and repair plant utility, HVAC, and building management systems.
  • Technical Support:
  • Provide technical support for facilities, including diagnosing equipment issues, performing preventative maintenance, assisting in equipment servicing and repair, and moving equipment/controls as needed.
  • Maintenance Planning:
  • Structure and conduct job plans and work procedures for facilities, including Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) reliability programs, and manage service agreements.
  • Utilities Optimization:
  • Optimize utilities equipment availability and efficiency in coordination with production goals, using data analysis to develop short-term and long-term roadmaps.
  • Facilities Strategy:
  • Define and implement facilities strategy with a focus on equipment criticality.
  • SOP Management:
  • Generate and revise internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for building systems and facilities-related equipment.
  • Asset Management:
  • Manage a central register of all critical plant, site facilities, equipment, and machinery.
  • Vendor Oversight:
  • Oversee contractors/vendors and service contracts for the maintenance of utilities systems, buildings, tooling, and processing equipment.
  • Maintenance Management:
  • Utilize a maintenance management process for repairs, preventative maintenance, and calibration of infrastructure and equipment, maintaining schedules and records.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Promote continuous improvement in processes and procedures, aligning with DBS fundamentals and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Sustainability Initiatives:
  • Champion sustainability through energy improvement project implementation.
  • Compliance and Ethics:
  • Perform all job duties and responsibilities ethically and in compliance with applicable regulations and industry codes.
  • Cost Management:
  • Maintain a focus on budget management, operational efficiency, and spare parts management.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Certifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
  • Work Experience:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in building operations, engineering, and systems maintenance, with at least three (3) years in a similar role as a facility engineer.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical processes or biotechnology is preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of GMPs is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s) and facility drawings is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a high-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Knowledge of building processes, construction principles, and the operations of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems in manufacturing facilities.
