Senior Trust Officer

Are you a seasoned professional in wealth management and trust administration? We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Trust Officer in South Dakota. As a Senior Trust Officer, you will oversee the administration and maintenance of South Dakota-directed trusts, family office, and traditional fiduciary relationships. This role requires strong business acumen, leadership, and exceptional customer service skills. You will be responsible for preparing necessary documents, facilitating trust drafting, modifications, and petitions, and ensuring superior performance in audit testing by internal auditors, FDIC, and the SD division of banking.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of trust accounts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including annual account reviews.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as their trusted fiduciary in all matters related to trust administration.
  • Proactively anticipate client needs and requests, answering questions, coordinating daily activities, and escalating issues as needed.
  • Manage and coordinate new account onboarding.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Share and promote new ideas to support process improvements and changes to team processes.
  • Direct, develop, and coach trust officers and administrators in efficient and accurate transaction execution.
  • Prepare materials for client and prospect presentations and meetings.
  • Oversee the administration of trust assets, distributions, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, investment management, and compliance, to deliver comprehensive solutions tailored to clients' needs.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to continuously improve service offerings and processes.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field; JD or CTFA preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in trust administration, with a proven track record of managing complex client relationships.
  • Deep understanding of fiduciary principles, trust law, fiduciary tax, and tax implications for trust administration.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
