With partnerships across leading lighting manufacturers, we support rental houses, studios, production stages, owner-operators, schools, and other entities within the entertainment industry. Our services include warranty and non-warranty repairs, studio buildouts, and consulting for production environments.

Job Title: Technicians Needed (Senior Technician: 30-40 Hours/Week, Junior Technician: 15-20 Hours/Week)

Position Overview:

Schematic Works is seeking Senior Technicians and Junior Technicians to join our team on a contract basis, with the potential for full-time opportunities as we continue to grow. These positions offer flexible Monday-Friday schedules and approximately 25% local travel for service calls.

Technicians will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a range of professional equipment, including high-end lighting fixtures (HMI, LED, and strobe), grip equipment, cable repairs, monitors, tripod heads, sticks, and power distribution (distro). Both positions involve warranty and non-warranty repairs, requiring attention to detail, adherence to strict service protocols, and excellent organizational skills.

Senior Technicians will take the lead on complex projects, while Junior Technicians will focus on building skills with the guidance of senior team members. These roles provide significant opportunities for growth within our expanding company.

Key Responsibilities for Both Roles:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair:
  • Lighting equipment from leading manufacturers such as ARRI, Astera, Briese, Broncolor, Profoto, K5600, Creamsource, and Nanlux.
  • Cable systems, monitors, tripod heads, sticks, and distro systems.
  • Perform warranty and non-warranty repairs, documenting all work in detail.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to explain repair and maintenance processes.
  • Maintain accurate and organized service records for all work.
  • Follow quality and safety standards on every service call.
  • Participate in occasional training sessions, which may include travel outside the tri-state area (e.g., Europe, California, Florida, or Georgia, 2-3 times every other year).

Qualifications:

Senior Technician (30-40 Hours/Week):

  • Experience: 5-7 years of electronics experience or a relevant technical certificate combined with industry experience.
  • Expertise in lighting, grip equipment, power distribution, and component-level repairs.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly for warranty procedures.
  • Knowledge of DMX, on-set operations, and entertainment industry terminology is a plus.

Junior Technician (15-20 Hours/Week):

  • Experience: 2-3 years of technical experience or relevant hands-on work in a repair or maintenance role.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn in a hands-on environment.
  • Familiarity with entertainment industry equipment is a bonus but not required.
  • Detail-oriented and reliable, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.

Work Schedule and Travel:

  • Flexible Monday-Friday schedule.
  • Senior Technician: 30-40 hours per week.
  • Junior Technician: 15-20 hours per week.
  • Local travel for service calls, approximately 25% of the time.

Compensation:

  • Senior Technician: $30 - $35 per hour, based on experience.
  • Junior Technician: $23 - $27 per hour, based on experience.

Contract Role with Growth Potential:

These are contract positions with the potential to transition into full-time roles as Schematic Works expands. This is an excellent opportunity to grow with a company dedicated to providing high-quality services to the entertainment industry.

Application Instructions:

To apply, please submit your resume and a brief introduction telling us about your background, interest in the role, and any unique skills you bring to the team. A skills test will be part of the evaluation process.
