Job Overview:

My client is looking for a seasoned SR Distribution Center Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of their distribution center. The ideal candidate will ensure that the site meets its financial and operational goals while effectively administering and implementing the operational plans designed for the site. This role is vital in maintaining the efficiency, safety, and quality of the distribution processes. The SR Distribution Center Manager will lead and manage various departments, including Maintenance, HR, Kitchen, Inventory, Quality, Safety, and all Admin positions reporting on a dotted-line basis.


Key Responsibilities:


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or three to five years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Strong organizational skills and knowledge of distribution center operations.
  • A strong sense of teamwork and the ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a computer.
  • Occasional climbing of stairs.


Team Leadership:

  • Develop work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Issue written and oral instructions, assign duties, and inspect work for accuracy, neatness, and adherence to policies.
  • Standardize procedures to improve the efficiency of subordinate staff and maintain harmony among workers.
  • Resolve grievances, adjust errors, and address complaints to foster a positive and productive work environment.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage 4-12 subordinate managers who oversee departmental supervisors and a total workforce of 50-100 employees across various departments.
  • Ensure overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units, adhering to organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, and implementing management and operational procedures.
  • Handle general problem resolution, including rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing complaints.


Warehouse and Inventory Management:

  • Plan the layout of the warehouse and other storage areas, considering item turnover, size, weight, and related factors.
  • Manage financial reporting for the warehouse, ensuring alignment with financial targets.
  • Design, create, and implement comprehensive production planning for the entire warehouse to optimize operations.
  • Provide guidance to employees on the proper care, preservation, handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping of stock.


Operational Efficiency:

  • Analyze records and recommend actions for non-usable, slow-moving, and excess stock to improve inventory management.
  • Review records for accuracy, compliance with established procedures, and adequacy of stock levels.
  • Schedule and oversee work for special and periodic inventories to ensure thorough and accurate counts.
  • Investigate discrepancies between inventory and stock control records, tracing the history of items and recommending corrective actions.
