The role of the E-Commerce System Administrator is to provide oversight and expertise regarding the overall e-commerce environment. Primary functions include assisting in the integration, modification, and maintenance of various E-Commerce technologies and systems to ensure the smooth operation of online shopping experiences.


The E-Commerce Systems Administrator is also responsible for resolving systems and app issues and recommending improvements for site viability. This will involve developing detailed recommendations, auditing, and consultation with other departments to resolve system issues. The position will meet regularly with other areas of the organization to determine technology requirements, offer advice, and perform implementations. 


This role is essential in keeping the E-Commerce platform responsive to market changes and customer demands, thereby supporting the overall digital strategy of the business. In addition to marketing, this position will also support customer service and inventory data & systems. This role will report to the Head of E-Commerce & Marketing.

Responsibilities:


  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the E-Commerce platform, with a focus on site performance, optimization, security, and marketing integrations.
  • Manage the implementation and maintenance of E-Commerce technologies, tools, and digital solutions.
  • Collaborate with developers and third-party vendors and service providers to maintain and improve the system.
  • Collaborate internally with colleagues in North Spore’s operations departments to ensure that website information and systems are accurately and functionally integrated with operations
  • Database management including coordinating data flows and communication around E-commerce data
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security within the E-Commerce systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection and privacy regulations.
  • Provide technical support to internal stakeholders, assisting with e-commerce system-related inquiries.
  • Enhance system scalability, ensuring seamless handling of continual increases in transaction volume.
  • Create and maintain system documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform regular security tests and security monitoring.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in E-Commerce systems administration.
  • Recommend and manage system improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Manage the take-down of fraudulent websites posing as North Spore.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of the software used by the organization.

Required qualifications and skills:


  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in E-Commerce systems administration, preferably within a high-volume retail environment.
  • Proficiency in the Shopify E-Commerce ecosystem.
  • Experience with system integrations, APIs, and web services.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices related to E-Commerce platforms.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, critical for issue resolution.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities, particularly within a cross-functional E-Commerce environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a customer-centric mindset.

  • Familiarity with MRP and WMS systems
  • Familiarity with Web site development
