We are a manufacturer of custom-designed capital equipment machinery. The Director of Engineering is tasked with leading the charge on all engineering endeavors within the organization. This key role demands a blend of strategic foresight and pragmatic problem-solving skills to ensure that all engineering operations are in perfect harmony with the overarching business objectives, core values, and technological aspirations.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in tandem with various departments such as product management, product support, technical service, and manufacturing to precisely define product specifications and guarantee that engineering outcomes align with these requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the executive leadership to set and pursue long-term engineering objectives that are in line with corporate aims.
  • Strategically map out and manage engineering projects, breaking down larger ventures into achievable tasks, establishing clear timelines, delegating resources effectively, and making certain that projects are delivered on time and within the allocated budget.
  • Provide inspirational leadership and direction to the engineering team on a daily basis, offering support, guidance, and mentorship to individual engineers.
  • Spearhead both mechanical and electrical engineering efforts, ensuring a cohesive approach to all projects.
  • Play a crucial role in the recruitment, onboarding, and continuous professional development of new and existing engineering personnel, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Regularly review and refine engineering processes to pinpoint improvement opportunities, introducing best practice methodologies to bolster efficiency and productivity.
  • Keep abreast of the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices, ensuring the engineering team remains at the forefront of innovation and competitiveness.
  • Tackle complex technical issues by engaging closely with the engineering team to unlock innovative solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor's or Master's).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills complemented by a strategic mindset.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team of competent engineers.
  • Expertise in Motion Controls / Robotics / Automation.
  • Willingness to undertake quarterly travel to our second plant, out of state.
  • Expertise in project management.
  • Proficient in devising and implementing effective control strategies.
