Professional Development Instructor

The Professional Development Instructor is a full-time position for our Professional Certification and Development courses. The instructor will be responsible for teaching assigned courses in project management, agile, and leadership development.


Project Management instructors are responsible for instructing the curriculum as written, following all guidelines provided by Peterson’s. Instructors are expected to create engaging courses that use the best practices of adult education and online learning. This includes pursuit of the following pedagogical vision:

  • Connection of new information with related knowledge from the instructor’s previous experiences helps students make sense of and retain new information.
  • Active engagement with content, like creating solutions and applying concepts through provided exercises that simulate certification exams, helps students develop usable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Iterative application of concepts with rich feedback helps learners develop competency.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide written feedback using evaluation tools for course content including slide decks, instructor guides, delivery procedures, and timing documents.
  • Meet development due dates and submit curriculum and materials as requested.
  • Review course evaluation feedback and assist in improving curriculum and instruction based on that feedback.
  • Occasionally meet with staff to review feedback from course evaluations.
  • Prepare for courses sessions.
  • Facilitate courses as scheduled.


Required Qualifications

·     Bachelor’s degree or higher in content area, education, curriculum design, writing, or other relevant discipline.

·     4 years of work experience minimum in Project Management or related work, and at least one year of teaching experience.

·     Deep knowledge of the course subject matter.

·     Ability to explain concepts in ways that help others learn.

·     Ability to facilitate an online learning environment using best practices for online learning.

·     Ability to facilitate discussions and learning activities that both encourages and helps learners develop knowledge, skills, and abilities.

·     Strong verbal and written communication skills.

·     Demonstrated knowledge and skills in DEI in classroom instruction.

·     Experience and comfort working with digital education products and other digital tools, including Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and Slack.

·     Ability to maintain professionalism and a positive attitude in light of the high volume, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications

·     PMP Certified from PMI.

·     6+ years of work experience related to project management.

·     2+ years teaching adult learners in live online contexts.

·     Experience using Zoom to conduct courses.

·     Experience teaching a project management course.
