The Construction Estimator is tasked with creating the initial project budget estimates and updating them throughout the design process to keep the project on budget. Negotiate the changes to the work during the construction/installation phase and compile post-mortem cost summaries of the project. This outlines the specific tasks, but it is not meant to be exhaustive. Every project will have its unique requirements.


  • Create approximate estimations for the bidding of an aerospace manufacturing facility, including order of magnitude, conceptual, bid, and construction estimations.
  • Create initial budget estimations for new projects, including adjustments to the estimates.
  • Assist project teams in establishing scope, bid requirements, and scheduling value.
  • Produce estimations for any alterations made to the work during the construction/installation phases
  • Revise project estimates throughout all design phases, including the concept, schematic, design development, and construction document phases. Working with project teams in various regional areas is part of it.
  • Create and maintain a database that compares the costs of various manufacturing and non-manufacturing facilities.
  • Design components that incorporate 'value engineering' with the project team to avoid cost overruns.
  • Investigates and presents alternative materials or methodologies for consideration in VE.
  • Investigate market conditions for cost trends and local means and methods. Develops location cost factors and escalation factors
  • Formulates location cost and escalation factors.
  • At the end of the project, compile project summaries regarding costs.
  • Assess proposals from suppliers/subcontractors for changes in project work, in accordance with contract requirements and fair market values.
