Senior Project Manager – Data Center

Richmond, Virginia

$170-250k + bonus and benefits

We have a very exciting Senior Project Management to work within the Data Center Industry. Our client are growing rapidly and due to this growth need a new Senior Project Manager for their site in Richmond, Virginia.

Job Summary: The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the successful planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of the Greenfield Data Center project. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in large-scale data center construction, from inception through commissioning, ensuring the project is delivered on time, within scope, and budget, while adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, resources, and risk management strategies.
  • Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams including engineers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and achievement of project objectives.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, clients, vendors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure all project requirements are met.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the project budget, monitor expenditures, and ensure cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or safety.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project timelines and deliverables.
  • Compliance: Ensure all project activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality control processes to ensure that all construction and installation work meets the specified standards and client requirements.
  • Reporting: Provide regular progress updates to senior management, including detailed reports on project status, financials, risks, and milestones.
  • Commissioning & Handover: Oversee the commissioning phase, ensuring that all systems and infrastructure are fully operational before handover to the operations team.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree or PMP certification is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in project management, with a focus on data center construction or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record of managing Greenfield projects from concept to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of data center design, construction, and commissioning processes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and cost control.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements for data centers.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with LEED-certified projects or other sustainable construction practices.
  • Experience with mission-critical infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure and operations is an added advantage.
