Senior Software Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who will play a key role in the development of current and future products & tools.


The Senior Backend Engineer's responsibilities include gathering user requirements, defining system functionality and writing code using various technologies such as: Node.js, TypeScript, & Nest.js. Our ideal candidate is familiar with the software development life cycle (SDLC) from preliminary system analysis to tests and deployment.


Ultimately, the Senior Backend Engineer role will be building high-quality, innovative and fully performing software that lives up to coding standards & technical design.

What to Expect
  • Develop backend APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, & Nest.js
  • Manage & maintain PostgreSQL databases
  • Secure the back-end using security best practices against major security threats
  • Review and approve pull requests made by other members of the team
  • Enforce clean code & best practices (i.e. unit testing)
Requirements
  • 4+ years of backend development using Node.js, TypeScript, & Nest.js
  • Experience building & working with RESTful APIs
  • Experience & knowledge of best practices when delivering APIs to mobile clients
  • Ability to work with both relational and NoSQL Databases (MySQL, MongoDB, Redis)
  • Ability to work with ORMs and raw queries, know the difference between them and use each when needed
  • Experience with npm, composer, & other modern package management tools
  • Experience with Docker & general containerization workflows
  • Familiar with the creation of automated tests (TDD, integration testing, etc.)
  • Some basic DevOps experience when working with a CI/D pipeline
  • Familiar with Agile workflows (sprints, planning, retrospectives, etc.)
  • A team player willing to go the extra mile in order to ensure the team’s success
Nice to Haves
  • Experience working with a headless CMS (Prismic, Contentful, Kontent, etc.)
  • Experience working with Legacy code and refactoring it
  • Experience working with Highcharts
  • Experience working with personal finance apps.
  • An eye for visual design
