Strategic Communications Specialist

The contract strategic communications specialist directly supports the Army senior leaders in speaking and key leader engagements, scripting projects, public relations messages, political messaging, executive presentations, professional journal articles, and messaging the workforce.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and write speeches, engagement read-ahead briefings, and other communications
  • Translate ideas, objectives, corporate position, and management philosophy into messaging related to the topic, speaker, and intended audience
  • Be fluent/current on Department of Defense (DOD), Department of the Army (DA), and CECOM topics
  • Compose and/or review editorials, press releases, or articles representing CECOM management
  • Assist CECOM executives with speech delivery preparations
  • Contribute to moderately complex aspects of a project
  • Work both independently and collaboratively in nature


Qualifications

  • 2 years experience in event planning, strategic communications or marketing
  • Bachelor's degree (or 2 years additional experience)
  • Defense Information School (DINFOS) graduate desired
  • Proficient in the Associated Press (AP) Style Guide
  • Able to describe complex material and information in detail and be able to write in a conversational tone
  • Able to weave various elements of a presentation together comprehensively and logically
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance
