Position Summary:

The Sales Arborist Manager at Heartwood Tree Care is responsible for leading the sales team, building client relationships, and ensuring the successful sale of tree care services. This role focuses on generating revenue through client consultations, providing expert advice, and developing customized care plans that align with customer needs. The Sales Arborist Manager will also be responsible for managing and mentoring a team of arborists to meet sales targets and maintain the company’s high standards of safety, service, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of sales arborists to meet individual and team sales goals.
  • Provide ongoing training and development to improve technical skills and sales performance.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the team through metrics, feedback, and goal setting.
  • Ensure team members comply with safety protocols and industry standards (ANSI A300, Z133).
  • Individual Selling Responsibilities:
  • Conduct one-on-one client consultations to assess tree health, site conditions, and customer concerns.
  • Develop and present detailed proposals to clients, providing expert advice on tree care options such as pruning, fertilization, removal, and pest management.
  • Diagnose tree health issues and identify risks, recommending appropriate treatments and services.
  • Create personalized tree care plans that meet the client’s needs and align with their budget.
  • Close sales and follow up with clients to ensure service satisfaction and long-term relationship building.
  • Proactively prospect for new business through referrals, networking, and maintaining relationships with existing customers.


  • Maintain an updated knowledge of all services offered by Heartwood Tree Care and cross-sell services as needed.
  • Work independently to meet personal sales quotas while contributing to the team’s overall success.
  • Sales & Client Relations:
  • Meet with potential clients to assess their tree care needs and develop customized care plans.
  • Conduct site visits to diagnose tree health, structural issues, and recommend treatment or removal services.
  • Prepare detailed proposals and provide clear, expert advice on tree care solutions to clients.
  • Maintain long-term client relationships through follow-ups, consistent communication, and high-quality service.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new services, and tree care techniques to offer clients the best solutions.
  • Revenue Growth & Strategy:
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to meet company revenue goals and expand market reach.
  • Collaborate with the marketing department to identify opportunities for client acquisition and retention.
  • Track sales pipeline, forecast revenue, and adjust strategies to meet evolving company goals.
  • Work with management to set competitive pricing while maintaining profitability.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Provide expertise in tree identification, pest and disease diagnosis, soil health, pruning standards, and tree risk assessment.
  • Ensure the use of best practices in tree care to protect the health and longevity of trees and landscapes.
  • Keep up with certifications and continuing education in arboriculture.
  • Customer Experience & Satisfaction:
  • Ensure a positive customer experience by handling inquiries, resolving complaints, and providing excellent service throughout the sales process.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure smooth service delivery, from proposal approval to completion.
  • Serve as a point of contact for high-value clients or escalated service concerns.



Qualifications:

  • Education & Certification:
  • ISA Certified Arborist (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field (preferred).
  • Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP) or equivalent certification (preferred).
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in arboriculture sales or tree care consulting.
  • Proven track record in managing a sales team and achieving sales goals.
  • Experience in diagnosing tree health issues and providing recommendations for care and maintenance.
  • Skills:
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical information to clients.
  • Proficient in CRM software and proposal generation tools.
  • Knowledge of ANSI A300 standards and tree care safety protocols
