Position Overview:
Mavuno Harvest is seeking a skilled Production Manager to oversee our manufacturing operations. The Production Manager will be responsible for managing a small team of production workers and running both an automated packing line and a hand packing line. In addition to strong leadership abilities, the ideal candidate will have mechanical know-how to troubleshoot and maintain equipment. This role requires a commitment to upholding our company values of sustainability and social responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Management: Lead and supervise a team of production workers, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure optimal performance and a positive work environment.
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Oversee the operation of both automated and hand packing lines, troubleshooting any mechanical issues and ensuring that equipment is properly maintained to minimize downtime.
- Quality Control: Implement and enforce rigorous quality control measures to ensure that all products meet our standards for safety, consistency, and taste. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address any quality issues.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods, ensuring sufficient supplies for production while minimizing excess inventory and waste.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, and promote a culture of safety awareness among production staff.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to drive continuous improvement in production processes, quality systems, and workforce skills. Identify opportunities for efficiency gains and cost savings.
- Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for production staff to enhance their skills and knowledge, particularly in equipment operation and maintenance.
- Reporting and Analysis: Generate regular reports on production performance, including key metrics such as output, yield, and efficiency, and provide analysis and insights to inform decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, food science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in food manufacturing, with at least 1 year of experience in a production management role.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve goals.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and maintain production equipment.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations, such as HACCP and SQF.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, develop innovative solutions, and drive results.
- Experience with ERP systems and other production management software tools.
