LOCATION: Portland, Oregon (applicants accepted from OR, WA, CA, AZ, ID, TX)


SALARY: $35 - $42 per hour DOE


SCHEDULE: Full-Time, 40 hour a week 12-month contract for special project, 100% Remote

THE ROLE

As a Paralegal, you will provide comprehensive legal support to our in-house Legal & Compliance Department, which consists of a dedicated team of ten employees. You will be responsible for conducting legal research, drafting documents, managing discovery materials, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders. This role involves working on a variety of legal issues, including employment law matters, immigration work and contract review. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining strict confidentiality and attention to detail, keeping in mind the people impacted by this role.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Legal Research - Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and analyze complex legal issues.
  • Employment & Immigration: respond to federal, state, and administrative complaints and EEOC charges, respond to subpoenas, assist attorneys and HR in employment-related matters and litigation matters.
  • Discovery - Locate, organize, and prepare discovery materials, ensuring compliance with legal processes.
  • Document Production - Conduct privilege and third-party information reviews for document production and audits.
  • Request for Production - Review HIPAA BAA requests, Powers of Attorney, Guardianships, Conservatorships. Assist with responding to federal and state administrative requests, employment matters, and non-litigation matters.
  • Contract Review - Review and make recommendations on contracts, ensuring alignment with internal business practices.
  • Communication and Coordination Handle intake and timely response to items including subpoenas and personnel file requests, issuing legal hold notices.



SKILLS AND MUST-HAVES

  • Four to six years of paralegal experience, showing progressively responsible duties in a law office or corporate law department.
  • Current experience in-house or within private law firm working in immigration and employment matters.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; Associate’s or Paralegal certification and combination of experience gladly considered.
  • Naturally curious problem-solver, self-starter who demonstrates solid working knowledge of supported areas of transactional law, employment law, immigration law, and research.
  • Identifies and analyzes complex legal issues, assessing reliability of data and recognizing errors.
  • Produces timely, thoughtful and articulate written and oral communication tailored to internal and external audiences.
  • Strong experience with redacting software, Excel, Word, SharePoint, Office, Teams, Adobe, Salesforce
