Our client is a mission-driven 50-employee non-profit organization with a national reach, dedicated to serving the needs of 250,000 members across the country. Committed to making a positive impact, they strive to create a better future for individuals in need through their services. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a dynamic and skilled solo Human Resources Manager to lead their HR department and contribute to their mission.
The Human Resources Manager will play a key role in driving the HR strategy and administration for the organization. This position is hybrid and will be based on-site in Winnetka, IL three days a week. A successful candidate will have a passion for the mission, strong leadership skills and the ability to navigate the unique challenges and opportunities of a growing non-profit organization.
Human Resources Manager Responsibilities:
Collaborate with senior leadership to align HR strategies with organizational goals
Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that foster a positive work culture
Provide guidance on employee relations issues, conflict resolution and performance management
Conduct investigations when necessary and ensure fair and consistent application of policies
Oversee the recruitment process, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding
Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee retention and engagement
Identify training needs and coordinate professional development opportunities
Support career growth and skill enhancement initiatives for employees
Manage day-to-day HR operations, including payroll, benefits administration and record-keeping
Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations
Establish and track key HR metrics to measure the effectiveness of HR programs
Provide regular reports and analysis to senior leadership
Human Resources Manager Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred
SHRM or PHR certification preferred
3+ years of proven experience as an HR Generalist or Manager, preferably in a non-profit setting
Must have strong Excel and Microsoft skills
Ideally has experience being on a small (or solo) HR team
Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws and regulations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities
