HR Manager

Our client is a mission-driven 50-employee non-profit organization with a national reach, dedicated to serving the needs of 250,000 members across the country. Committed to making a positive impact, they strive to create a better future for individuals in need through their services. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a dynamic and skilled solo Human Resources Manager to lead their HR department and contribute to their mission.

The Human Resources Manager will play a key role in driving the HR strategy and administration for the organization. This position is hybrid and will be based on-site in Winnetka, IL three days a week. A successful candidate will have a passion for the mission, strong leadership skills and the ability to navigate the unique challenges and opportunities of a growing non-profit organization.

Human Resources Manager Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with senior leadership to align HR strategies with organizational goals

• Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that foster a positive work culture

• Provide guidance on employee relations issues, conflict resolution and performance management

• Conduct investigations when necessary and ensure fair and consistent application of policies

• Oversee the recruitment process, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding

• Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee retention and engagement

• Identify training needs and coordinate professional development opportunities

• Support career growth and skill enhancement initiatives for employees

• Manage day-to-day HR operations, including payroll, benefits administration and record-keeping

• Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations

• Establish and track key HR metrics to measure the effectiveness of HR programs

• Provide regular reports and analysis to senior leadership

Human Resources Manager Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred

• SHRM or PHR certification preferred

• 3+ years of proven experience as an HR Generalist or Manager, preferably in a non-profit setting

• Must have strong Excel and Microsoft skills

• Ideally has experience being on a small (or solo) HR team

• Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws and regulations

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities
