BGSF has partnered with a growing CONSTRUCTION company who is seeking a RISK MANAGER. Position is in the North side of Houston south from the airport.


To lead and manage company's risk program in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin. Responsible for identifying, evaluating and managing risk to field workers. The Risk Manager also supports the growth of the organization by collaborating with business partners in providing risk and safety training support as well as offering more efficient solutions and tools to minimize risk.

Essential Functions

  • Administers corporate risk management procedures, policies, records, practices and controls for the company and its internal clients.
  • Provides analysis regarding the company’s risk management and insurance needs which includes, but is not limited to, general and professional liability, property, directors & officers liability, employment practices liability, worker’s compensation and automobile liability.
  • Gather data and complete new/renewal applications within required timeframes.
  • Review quotes and policies to ensure that they are consistent with specifications submitted.
  • Calculate premium allocations, premium estimates and conduct policy audits.
  • Ensure necessary insurance documents are received and available such as binders, certificates of insurance, policies, etc.
  • Serve as liaison to internal and external legal counsel, insurance companies and individuals investigating any incidents which may result in loss.
  • Submit proper and timely notification of claims information to insurance companies.
  • Serves as principal contact for and manages all accident and incident reporting.
  • Handles all aspects of worker’s compensation claims including collaborating with Human Resources on leave requirements, maintaining an active back to work program and minimizing return to work delays.
  • Implements loss control measures to reduce overall claims frequency and claim costs.
  • Utilizes information systems and processes to provide meaningful claims metrics to business partners to assist in the improvement of accident/incident rates.
  • Coordinates quarterly claims reviews with key stakeholders.
  • Manages certificate of insurance process for all third-party vendors of Company.
  • Manages vehicle fleet program and related insurance.
  • Advises on contract terms and conditions, including due diligence review of acquisitions and dispositions, and other transactions or scenarios which give rise to risk.
  • Prepares documents and training materials which foster a culture of workplace safety.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Minimum of five to ten years of experience in a similar role for a large construction company
  • Broad knowledge of insurance program structures.
  • Minimum of five years’ direct experience in claims handling.
  • Proven record of reducing workers’ compensation, automobile liability, general liability, and property claims.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
  • Able to read, write and speak English fluently. Bilingual is a plus.



Position is paying in the range of $125,000.
