You’ll oversee all aspects of property operations — from maintenance, compliance, and resident engagement to financial performance and strategic expansion — ensuring every property reflects our commitment to quality, sustainability, and community impact.As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will shape the future of the organization by driving operational excellence, advancing innovation, and creating lasting value for residents, stakeholders, and the company as a whole.Key Leadership ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & VisionServe as a senior advisor and strategic partner to the CEO and CFO, contributing to growth strategy, investment priorities, and long-range planning.Establish and monitor portfolio-wide performance goals, reporting results and actionable insights to executive leadership.Anticipate emerging risks and opportunities, developing proactive strategies to enhance property performance and operational resilience.Champion the organization’s mission and values, representing the company as a visible and credible leader to external partners, funders, and community stakeholders.Foster alignment and collaboration across departments — including Asset Management, Legal, HR, Finance, and Procurement — to drive consistency, compliance, and shared success.Operational ExcellenceOversee daily operations, maintenance, leasing, and compliance across all managed properties, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.Lead initiatives to optimize property performance, streamline processes, and strengthen tenant relations.Implement best-in-class systems (e.g., Yardi) to enhance data integrity, reporting, and decision-making.Partner with Asset Management to maximize NOI through efficient maintenance programs, strategic capital planning, and vendor optimization.Negotiate and manage contracts to ensure cost-effective, high-quality services across the portfolio.Financial ManagementPartner with the Business Manager and Finance team to develop and manage property budgets and forecasts, ensuring financial accuracy and accountability.Oversee operating expenses, monitor performance metrics, and lead capital planning initiatives to maintain fiscal discipline and maximize portfolio value.Ensure financial transparency through timely reporting, budget variance analysis, and performance dashboards.Team Leadership & DevelopmentBuild and lead a talented team of property management professionals committed to excellence, collaboration, and resident satisfaction.Inspire a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.Design and implement professional development programs to strengthen leadership capacity and technical expertise.Oversee performance evaluations, salary reviews, and succession planning to ensure the growth and stability of the division.Qualifications & Competencies8+ years of progressive experience in affordable or multifamily property management and asset management.6+ years in a senior supervisory or executive leadership role.Bilingual Spanish a plusProven ability to lead large, complex portfolios and multi-site teams in diverse geographies.Expertise in property operations, compliance (LIHTC, HOME, HPD, NYSHCR, HUD), and financial analysis (budgeting, P&L, cash flow).Strong business acumen with the ability to translate operational goals into financial and mission-driven results.Experience in a unionized environment; familiarity with 32BJ preferred.Excellent communication, relationship-building, and change management skills.Proficiency in Yardi or similar property management software, plus strong Excel and MS Office skills.EducationBachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, Operations, or related fieldEquivalent experience that demonstrates strong leadership and operational management expertise will also be considered.Why Join UsThis is a rare opportunity to lead at the intersection of real estate, community impact, and organizational growth.
