New York City - hybrid working from home with 3 days per week office based.

$90-95K plus excellent benefits package.

To be successful in this role:

You will be a confident and senior Commercial Underwriter with a minimum of 7 years in Commercial Property, General Liability, and Business Owners insurance underwriting.


Other requirements for this role include:

  • Skills: Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, manage high volumes of transactions, and make quick, high-quality decisions
  • Technical Knowledge: Expertise in analyzing loss control inspections and familiarity with online research tools, including social media platforms

  • Location Flexibility: Willingness to work in a hybrid model, with 3 days per week in the office


Job role and responsibilities:

As a Senior Commercial Underwriter, you will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting commercial risks, analyzing loss control inspections, and conducting thorough research using third-party data, including social media, specific to the 5 boroughs of NYC.


Other responsibilities for this role include:

  • Underwriting and Risk Assessment: Evaluate commercial property, general liability, and business owners insurance applications, ensuring comprehensive risk assessment and high-quality decision-making
  • Transaction Management: Operate efficiently in a high-transaction environment, making swift and accurate underwriting decisions
  • Loss Control Analysis: Analyze and interpret loss control inspections to determine risk and underwriting eligibility
  • Research and Data Analysis: Conduct online research using third-party data, including social media, focused on the 5 boroughs of NYC, to inform underwriting decisions
  • Mentoring and Training: Provide guidance and training to junior underwriters and staff, fostering a collaborative and educational work environment
  • Stakeholder Interaction: Regularly interact with senior management, providing insights and recommendations to support business objectives
