Position: Staff Attorney


Reports to: Partner


Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Central Time), In office Mon, Wed, Thurs, Remote Tues & Fri


Job Summary: This position is responsible for handling a broad range of legal matters including general corporate matters, contract negotiations, drafting documents, transactional matters, employment related matters and litigation matters. This position will advise and represent the organization on various legal matters to mitigate Company liability and support the business operations.


Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice in connection with general business contracts and operations.
  • Prepare/review proposed contracts, position statements, agreements and other legal instruments to safeguard the company’s interest.
  • The position requires strong counseling and advice skills, broad knowledge of federal and state employment laws, ability to prepare and present training, knowledge of online research tools, and the ability to address legal issues proactively. Maintaining up to date knowledge of federal, state, or local employment laws.
  • Assist General Counsel in administrative tasks and discovery requests. Additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned, in support of the corporate and business functions of the organization.


Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor from an accredited law institution.
  • Member of State Bar (preferably Illinois) with no history of adverse actions relative to current or previous employment.
  • 2-5 years of experience in employment law, contract review, general corporate law, and/or litigation.


Requisite Abilities and/or Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Detailed analytical and administrative skills are essential to the position.
  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with internal personnel, customers, contractors, in-house and outside attorneys, opposing counsel, and third parties.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated work ethic.
  • Work involves confidential and sensitive information; discretion is essential. Ability and approach to undertake all tasks assigned in the same manner.
