The Colorado Charter School Institute (CSI) is a statewide charter school authorizer whose mission is to foster high-quality public-school choices offered through charter schools, particularly schools that are focused on closing the achievement gap for at-risk students. Governed by a board of nine members appointed by the Governor and Commissioner of Education, CSI currently serves a diverse portfolio of 40+ schools across the state of Colorado serving over 20,000 students. POSITION SUMMARY
CSI serves as the School Food Authority for over 30 schools in Colorado, ensuring students have access to high-quality meals. This role supports Child Nutrition Programs and menu planning processes for charter schools, ensuring the implementation of required program elements in accordance with State and Federal regulations and CSI board policy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ROLE-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
- Support the Child Nutrition Programs and menu planning processes of charter schools, ensuring implementation of required program elements in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and CSI board policy.
- Manage and provide technical assistance for Nutrition Software, menu planning, production records and item management.
- Assist self-prep schools with ensuring menus are compliant with USDA regulations and are input in software system properly.
- Ensure school compliance with meal pattern documentation.
- Attend Food Cooperative meetings and provide feedback to Food Cooperative on behalf of schools.
- Assist schools with USDA entitlement dollars and ensure proper use of entitlement.
- Provide technical assistance for schools and parents and monitor sites to ensure compliance.
- Oversee Fresh Fruit and Vegetable program, including but not limited to training staff, and submitting monthly claim.
- Assist with developing and conducting training for CSI schools and CSI SFA sites on various topics related to Child Nutrition Programs.
- Conduct Annual reviews/audits at schools.
- Create online training modules for schools using CSI contracted platform.
- Other duties as assigned.
Department Responsibilities
- Ensure that all training, technical assistance, and compliance monitoring includes tiered processes and actions based on school performance.
- Ensure quality and availability of data for inclusion in the CSI Annual Review of Schools and other CSI initiatives.
- Participate in the review of charter applications and school operational plans in support of CSI’s role as a school authorizer.
- Provide operational support for the Chief of Finance and Operations.
- Establish and maintain practices that advance departmental and organizational knowledge management efforts.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
At a minimum, we are looking for the following:
- Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent education experience, with an academic concentration in a specified field OR Bachelor’s degree in any academic major and at least 5 years of experience in school nutrition programs
- Specified Fields: food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Federal Child Nutrition Program
- All final candidates must successfully pass a thorough criminal background check.
Ideal candidates will have some, or all, of the following education, skills, and abilities:
- Experience with Charter Schools
- Spanish language skills
- Registered Dietitian
- SERV Safe Certified
- SNA Certification
- School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) credentials
LOCATION & TRAVEL
Must be a resident of Colorado. Some within state travel is required. Telecommute Flexibility is available.
