Job Summary:

The Payroll Specialist coordinates the payroll process for the company.


Essential Functions:


  • Report to the Controller and coordinates with HR
  • Coordinate accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees for multiple entities with outside payroll processing company
  • Communicate with HR to ensure up to date employee information
  • Communicates with supervisors to correct and fix timecard issues
  • Navigate multiple software packages
  • Responsible for payroll related reconciliations and other required reports
  • Journal entries for actual payroll and accrued payroll into the accounting system
  • Create and maintain documentation of policies and procedures
  • Ability to multitask in a fast pace, demanding work environment
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and work experience is required.
  • Competent with MS Office Suite: Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Accounting software knowledge is required. Sage Intacct experience a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail

  • Quality Control—Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Computer Skills – Proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, spreadsheets, camera software, and server access; an above-average knowledge of Microsoft Office including electronic mail, Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive, Skype, and Flow; comfortable using a laptop and a tablet.

Stipulation of employment is passing an OHIO BCI and FBI background check in accordance with ORC/OAC 3796.

Employees are not allowed to work on the premises until the badge is activated in the Ohio Department of Medical Marijuana e-Licensing portal.
