Job Title: Assistant Maintenance Director

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor


Summary

The Assistant Maintenance Director assists the Maintenance Supervisor in planning, coordinating, and executing maintenance tasks within the facility.


Essential Functions

  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment.
  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Oversee contractors for professional repairs when necessary.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues.
  • Observe and test system operations using applicable gauges and instruments.
  • Adjust or replace worn or defective mechanisms and parts, then reassemble repaired systems.
  • Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to maintain records of repairs, replacements, and causes of malfunctions.
  • Install wiring to connect components to electrical power sources.
  • Estimate, order, pick up, deliver, and install materials and supplies needed for equipment maintenance.
  • Assist in supervising and training maintenance staff.
  • Operation of forklifts and aerial lifts.


Desired Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and repairing docks and doors.
  • Experience in welding and basic electrical work.
  • Ability to read blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and electronic testing devices.
  • Experience with CMMS.
  • Certification for operation of forklifts and aerial lifts.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Relevant degree, certifications, or technical training is a plus.



Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.
  • Ability to lift and move items over 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Environmental Conditions

  • Work in a refrigerated warehouse and outdoor environments across all seasons.


Position Type/Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position that requires the employee to be on call.
