Senior Inventory Control and Configuration Program Manager

We are seeking an experienced Senior Inventory Control & Configuration Manager to optimize inventory management, lead strategic initiatives, and partner across our premier client’s Robotics team. The role starts as an 8-month contract working onsite in the greater Boston area, at the epicenter of robotics innovation. You will join a diverse team of engineers from all over the world to design, test and build the dynamic fleet of robots and mechatronic systems. With offices, labs, test floors and factories all co-located, the teams can design the hardware, write the code, test, build and watch it all come to life. This allows to innovate quickly and on limitless ideas. Current advancements are underway in autonomous movement and mobility, artificial intelligence and machine learning, manipulation, simulation, robotic management software, predictive analytics, and much more.
Typical Day in the Role
- Ensure inventory accuracy across product categories by implementing cycle count programs, investigating discrepancies, and optimizing inventory levels to meet customer demand
- Manage 3PL provider relationships, negotiate SLAs, and drive continuous operational performance improvements
- Drive process improvements and system automation to eliminate manual inventory management tasks
- Partner with engineering teams on configuration management, including maintaining accurate master data, creating and updating bills of materials (BOMs), and managing engineering change orders
- Manage change orders and lead the change management process for manufacturing
- Analyze inventory data, identify optimization opportunities, and implement solutions to improve turns, reduce waste, and enhance customer experience
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align on inventory goals and execute plans to achieve them
- Manage a team of inventory planners, foster a culture of continuous improvement, empowering the team to identify and implement efficiency gains
- Attract, hire, and retain top talent to build a high-performing inventory management organization
- Ensure effective knowledge transfer and documentation to support scaling
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in inventory management, manufacturing, or supply chain
- 2+ years of people management experience
- Expertise in inventory planning, forecasting, replenishment, and optimization
- Strong vendor management and 3PL coordination skills
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional projects
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and process improvement skills
- Proficient in supply chain management tools and technologies (Oracle EBS, Agile PLM)
- Proficient in SQL and data visualization to drive key insights (Tableau, Power BI)
- Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma process improvement methodologies
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, operations, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience with ERP system implementations and supply chain planning tool transitions
- Experience with SAP S4/HANA and Kinaxis
- APICS Certification CPIM or CSCP
- Strong background in change management and driving system automation
- Master's degree in supply chain management or business administration
